Ink drawing on paper of rare beauty depicting "Kneeling Penitent Magdalene" within a landscape. Her body is prostrate on the ground, in her right hand she holds the Crucifix and kisses Christ's feet. Mary Magdalene, known as Mary Magdalene, is a popular subject especially in Western religious art. This is explained by the fact that, both according to the New Testament and according to the apocryphal gospels, she was a very close disciple of Jesus, so much so that she witnessed the crucifixion firsthand. The presence of Magdalene in art, in fact, is often linked to scenes of passion. Also popular are the versions of the penitent Magdalene, who, according to the golden legend, retreated into the desert to meditate after the death of Jesus. The drawing is from the sphere of Lorenzo Pasinelli (Bologna, 1629 - 1700)
