Breve Biografia
1913 Entra all'Accademia delle Belle Arti di Bologna. Ne esce due anni più tardi, ricevendo il gran premio del Ministero dell'Istruzione Pubblica. Fa amicizia con Morandi, Licini, Sepo, suoi compagni di corso.
1919 In settembre sposa una giovane universitaria francese, Maria Teresa, conosciuta da ragazzo, quando ella trascorreva le vacanze sul Lago Maggiore. Si stabiliscono a Parigi, Place St-Germain-des-Prés, proprio davanti alla chiesa. Timido, vive isolato dagli ambienti artistici che gli fanno un pò paura e decide di partire per il lungo viaggio.
Espone al Salon des Artistes Indépendantes, al Salon D'Automne, al Salon des Tuileries. La sua opera lineare e plastica viene notata immediatamente dalla critica.
1922 Nascono le sue opere maggiori degli anni venti-trenta. Espone ed organizza mostre nei più importanti spazi pubblicitari di Francia e Italia.
1926 Ritrova con gioia Licini a Parigi ed entra in contatto con i pittori italiani d'avanguardia. Fonda il "Groupe des Sept" (conosciuti come Les Italiens de Paris) con Campigli, De Pisis, Paresce, De Chirico, Savinio e Severini, gruppo che acquista rapidamente notorietà internazionale. Di tanto in tanto frequenta il Caffè del Duomo a Montparnasse e fa amicizia con Zadkine, Giacometti, Gonzales, Fini e Magnelli. Incontra Ozenfant, Lurcat, Max Jacob.
1935 Tozzi continua l'intensa attività artistica; le sue opere vengono acquistate dai musei: Grenoble - Parigi - Roma - Atene - Berlino - Berna - Budapest - Ginevra - Lione - Mannheim - Mosca - San Paolo. Dal governo francese gli viene conferita la "Legion d'Onore".
1958 Mostra alla galleria Annunciata di Milano. La mostra è determinante perché indica il momento in cui l'artista si riaffaccia alla ribalta internazionale dopo il lungo periodo di riflessione e di approfondimento che ha contraddistinto gli anni quaranta e cinquanta.
1960 Si stabilisce nella casa paterna di Suna, dove opera attivamente con esposizioni ed una intensa produzione di busti e volti femminili su fondi bianchi.
1971 Ritorna a Parigi, sia perché disturbato da ignoti, sia per essere vicino alla figlia e ai nipoti.
1979 L'8 settembre muore nella sua casa a St.Jean du Gard in Francia .
2021 Il Ministero della Cultura dichiara l'Archivio del Maestro Mario Tozzi di interesse storico particolarmente importante, tutelando lo stesso come patrimonio culturale.

Brief Biography
1913 He entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. He leaves two years later, receiving the grand prize of the Ministry of Public Education. He makes friends with Morandi, Licini, Sepo, his fellow students.
1919 In September he married a young French university student, Maria Theresa, known as a boy, when she spent the vacations on Lake Maggiore. They settle in Paris, Place St-Germain-des-Prés, just in front of the church. Shy, he lives isolated from artistic circles that make him a little afraid and decides to leave for the long journey.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Indépendantes, the Salon D'Automne, the Salon des Tuileries. His linear and plastic work is immediately noticed by critics.
1922 His major works of the twenties and thirties are born. It exposes and organizes exhibitions in the most important advertising spaces of France and Italy.
1926 Finds with joy Licini in Paris and comes into contact with the Italian avant-garde painters. It founds the "Groupe des Sept" (known as Les Italiens de Paris) with Campigli, De Pisis, Paresce, De Chirico, Savinio and Severini, group that quickly acquires international notoriety. From time to time it frequents the Cafe of the Dome to Montparnasse and it makes friendship with Zadkine, Giacometti, Gonzales, Fini and Magnelli. It meets Ozenfant, Lurcat, Max Jacob.
1935 Tozzi continues the intense artistic activity; his works are acquired by the museums: Grenoble - Paris - Rome - Athens - Berlin - Bern - Budapest - Geneva - Lyon - Mannheim - Moscow - San Paolo. From the French government is conferred the "Legion of Honor".
1958 Exhibition at the gallery Annunciata in Milan. The show is determining because it indicates the moment in which the artist riaffaccia to the international limelight after the long period of reflection and deepening that has contraddistinto the forties and fifties.
1960 He settles in his father's house in Suna, where he works actively with exhibitions and an intense production of busts and female faces on white backgrounds.
1971 He returns to Paris, both because disturbed by unknown persons, and to be close to his daughter and grandchildren.
1979 On September 8 he dies in his house in St.Jean du Gard in France.
2021 The Ministry of Culture declares the Archive of Maestro Mario Tozzi of particularly important historical interest, protecting it as cultural heritage.
