Biografia 
Giancarlo Cori era nato a Pesaro, ma appena il padre aveva ottenuto l’incarico di medico condotto a Chiavazza, la sua famiglia si era trasferita nel Biellese. Compì gli studi a Biella dove si diplomò ragioniere all’Istituto “Eugenio Bona”. Si impiegò alla Banca Sella, ma continuò a coltivare con grande impegno la sua passione  per l’arte. Frequentò lo studio dello scultore Zucconi e in seguito divenne  allievo del pittore Pippo Pozzi. Lasciò quindi l’impiego per dedicarsi interamente all’arte.  Partecipò a mostre collettive, allestì mostre personali, conobbe il successo, vinse premi e trovò galleristi e collezionisti che seppero apprezzare le sue capacità.
La sua ricerca interiore lo portò   ad approfondire tematiche esistenziali e ad accostarsi alla concretezza della vita con spirito disincantato, e spesso amaro.
 Ma non inganni  il visitatore l’autoritratto scelto come logo della mostra in cui l’autore sembra promettere atteggiamenti dirompenti e beffardi. Cori non si staccherà mai da un’eleganza formale che sembra in ogni caso dominare il suo spirito e la sua arte.
Passati i tempi in cui il rigore moralistico e accademico doveva governare, preservandole da atteggiamenti  scandalistici  , le opere d’arte, oggi  più che mai,il linguaggio pittorico di Cori  appare vigoroso, pulito, forte di una forza sempre dominata da una lucida razionalità e da una decisa padronanza di mestiere.
Giancarlo Cori , è bravo, decisamente migliore di altri artisti che hanno attraversato il suo tempo  con maggior clamore. Sostanzialmente ha classe.
Il percorso della mostra parte dai lavori iniziali: un bel ritratto, una natura morta fatta con delicatezza, un paesaggio di ottima qualità.
Poi c’è l’incontro con la modernità del suo tempo: i tagli alla maniera di Fontana, le plastiche bruciate alla  Burri, le sabbie, gli stracci.
Corì farà tesoro dei nuovi linguaggi. Ma i suoi  dipinti avranno soluzioni diverse; impostazioni in cui la ruvidità delle superfici sarà assorbita nel colore, diventerà quasi una trasposizione plastica per le  superfici di muri e pareti  a cui si appoggeranno, resi quasi diafani, personaggi e figure. Saranno caratteristiche  le sue lucide scansioni geometriche,  studiatissime, in cui si affacceranno figure drammatiche, ironiche o pensose,  e potranno anche splendere come piccoli gioielli luminosi i palloncini rossi e azzurri sfuggiti alle  mani dei bambini

Biography
Giancarlo Cori was born in Pesaro, but as soon as his father had obtained the position of doctor conducted in Chiavazza, his family had moved to the Biella area. He completed his studies in Biella where he graduated in accountancy at the "Eugenio Bona" Institute. He worked at Banca Sella, but continued to cultivate his passion for art with great commitment. He frequented the studio of the sculptor Zucconi and later became a pupil of the painter Pippo Pozzi. He then left his job to devote himself entirely to art. He participated in group exhibitions, set up personal exhibitions, met with success, won prizes and found gallery owners and collectors who were able to appreciate his skills.
His inner research led him to deepen existential issues and to approach the concreteness of life with a disenchanted and often bitter spirit.
 But the visitor should not be deceived by the self-portrait chosen as the logo of the exhibition in which the author seems to promise disruptive and mocking attitudes. Cori will never detach from a formal elegance that seems in any case to dominate her spirit and her art.
Gone are the times when moralistic and academic rigor had to govern works of art, preserving them from scandalous attitudes, today more than ever, Cori's pictorial language appears vigorous, clean, strong with a force always dominated by a lucid rationality and by a decisive mastery of the craft.
Giancarlo Cori is good, much better than other artists who crossed his time with greater clamor. It basically has class.
The itinerary of the exhibition starts from the initial works: a beautiful portrait, a delicately done still life, a landscape of excellent quality.
Then there is the encounter with the modernity of his time: the cuts in the manner of Fontana, the burnt plastics in Burri's style, the sands, the rags.
Corì will treasure the new languages. But his paintings will have different solutions; settings in which the roughness of the surfaces will be absorbed into the colour, it will almost become a plastic transposition for the surfaces of the walls and walls on which the characters and figures will lean, made almost diaphanous. Its lucid, highly studied geometric scans will be characteristic, in which dramatic, ironic or thoughtful figures will appear, and the red and blue balloons that have escaped the hands of children will also shine like small luminous jewels
