Grande dipinto olio su tela, di Giovanni Battista Costa, "Il lago Blu", Primi '900

Bello e grande dipinto dell'artista ligure Giovanni Battista Costa, raffigurante il famoso lago Blu nelle vicinanze di Cervinia, sullo sfondo infatti campeggia il maestoso Monte Cervino;

Giovanni Battista Costa nasce a Rapallo nel 1858, da famiglia agiata e dedica tutta la sua esistenza all’arte.
Partecipa, dal 1879, alle mostre della Società Promotrice di Belle Arti di Genova e a numerose altre importanti rassegne italiane esponendo, fino al 1921, oltre 100 dipinti, in prevalenza paesaggi, marine e ritratti.
Nel 1895 è nominato Accademico di merito della Ligustica, dove svolge, anche, attività di insegnamento.
Inizia i suoi studi artistici presso l’Accademia Ligustica (e in parte a Roma), passando, ben presto, da una pittura legata alla tradizione all’esecuzione di opere dal vero,probabilmente sotto la guida di Tammar Luxoro direttore, dal 1874, della nuova Scuola di Paesaggio.
Conseguentemente appaiono stretti i legami con la Scuola Grigia genovese, la Scuola di Rivara (in Piemonte) e il movimento macchiaiolo toscano.
L’analisi di alcune sue opere ci portano ad avvicinare il Costa ad alcuni pittori lombardi dell’800.
Le Sue opere appaiono, in retrospettiva, a Genova alla mostra di Pittori Liguri dell’Ottocento (Palazzo Rosso, 1938) e alla Mostra Commemorativa presso la Galleria San Matteo, 1952.
Nella maturità rivolge il suo interesse alla rappresentazione di paesaggi di montagna

Beautiful and large painting by Ligurian artist Giovanni Battista Costa, depicting the famous Blue Lake in the vicinity of Cervinia, in the background in fact stands the majestic Mount Cervino;

Giovanni Battista Costa was born in Rapallo in 1858 to a wealthy family and devoted his entire existence to art.
He participated, from 1879, in the exhibitions of the Society Promotrice di Belle Arti in Genoa and in numerous other important Italian exhibitions, exhibiting, until 1921, more than 100 paintings, mainly landscapes, seascapes and portraits.
In 1895 he was appointed Academic of Merit of the Ligustica, where he carried out, also, teaching activities.
He began his artistic studies at the Accademia Ligustica (and partly in Rome), moving, very soon, from painting linked to tradition to the execution of works from life,probably under the guidance of Tammar Luxoro director, from 1874, of the new Landscape School.
Consequently, the ties with the Genoese Grey School, the Rivara School (in Piedmont) and the Tuscan Macchiaiolo movement appear close.
Analysis of some of his works lead us to bring Costa closer to some Lombard painters of the 19th century.
His works appear, retrospectively, in Genoa at the exhibition of Pittori Liguri dell'Ottocento (Palazzo Rosso, 1938) and at the Commemorative Exhibition at the Galleria San Matteo, 1952.
In his maturity he turned his interest to the depiction of mountain landscapes.
