A hand colored map by Antonio Zatta entitled l’Italia Divisa nè suoi Stati di Nuova Proiezione Venezia 1782 from Zatta’s Atlas Atlante Novissimo . illustrato ed accresciuto sulle osservazioni, e scoperte fatte dai più celebri e più recenti geografi. published in Venice from 1775 and 1785 incisaed in Venice in 1782. The map was drawn by Giovanni Pitteri and engraved by Giuliano Zuliani. The hand colored cartouche in the upper right with the description of the map L’Italia Divisa ne’ suoi Stati di nuova Proiezione – Venezia 1782 presso Antonio Zatta con Privilegio dell’Ecc.mo Senato. The map is presented in a modern wood frame with a cream. There is minimal toning but the map is otherwise in good condition. Antonio Zatta (1757–1797) was the most celebrated Italian cartographer of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was based in Venice, where he created and published his most important work the “Atlante Novissimo”, a four volume atlas of the world presented in very high detail and accuracy for the time.
