Man Smoking Pipe Early 20th century Art Nouveau Hans Müller bronze bust, a lovely dark patina figurative sculpture on marble base, signed on the left shoulter H. Müller. In the lower part the bronze figure features a mark with letters BM and AEG in the corners, probably of the foundry.
The Austrian sculptor Hans Müller was born in Vienna Austria 1873. He was a pupil of Edmund von Hellmer at the Vienna Academy of Art and is best known for his busts of famous Viennese Society, he modeled a few animal sculptures mostly of hunting dogs.
This bust was probably cast around 1910 at the height of the Art Nouveau movement. Good condition, great dark patina, small chips in the marble profiles of the base.
