French Painted Papier Maché Snuffbox 1800s. Snuff box of circular shape with fine painting on the lid depicting a mountain landscape with figures and herds crossing a river, a dove flies in the sky and a shepherd in the foreground, upright with a stick in one hand and a small bird in the other, watches over beside a seated woman intent on suckling two babies in the shade of vegetation.
On the bottom there are the initials V E S painted in gold.
Good age related condition with signs of wear. France, 19th century.
